Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (April 14, 1891 – December 6, 1956). Known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, he was an Indian philosopher, jurist, economist, politician and social reformer. He inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination against the untouchables (Dalits).
He also supported the rights of workers, farmers and women. He was the first Minister of Law and Justice of Independent India, the father of the Indian Constitution and one of the architects of the Republic of India. Ambedkar was a student of immense talent. He received his doctorate in economics from both Columbia University and the London School of Economics and did research in law, economics and political science. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is seen as a symbol of equality. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar played an important role in making the constitution of our country. They outlawed discrimination against lower castes or untouchables and wanted to establish equality among our countrymen. He said that he believes in a society where friendship, equality and brotherhood exist. However, a person who has done so much for our country had endured many atrocities in the early days regarding his caste.
